說明
1.
Class participation
20%
Class participation is required. Students are expected to attend the class and prepared for class discussion. Students who are expected to be absent from the class should inform the instructor in advance, except for unexpected events (e.g., sickness, family issues). Class participation accounts for a total of 20% of the final grade; 5% for attendance and 15% for participation (三次發言).
2.
Presentation
20%
Students are required to present a peer-reviewed journal article in the social and behavioral pharmacy or health behavior areas. The article selected should relate to the behavioral theory introduced in the class. The presenting student are expected to give a brief review of the article and lead a discussion. Presentation will be graded based on the student’s demonstration of his/her understanding of the article/topic as well as the length of the presentation (time management). All students are expected to carefully review and critique the article and participate in the discussion. The presentation will be evaluated by the criteria listed on the presentation evaluation from, and students are required to upload their selected article for presentation by noon on Monday (the day before their presentation), and upload their presentation slides on CEIBA by Friday in the week of their presentation. Presentation accounts for a total of 20% of the final grade.
3.
Midterm Report
30%
There are two parts in the Midterm report: 1) a mini case discussion and 2) suggestions for the course. The mini case report should begin with a brief description of the demographics of the case and the health behavior problem (e.g., medication adherence, health service utilization, diet/exercise, etc.). Students should then apply what they have learned in the first half of the semester to describe and explain health behaviors of a specific case, and provide means of solutions or suggestions to the behavioral problem if possible. In the second part, students should provide their comments, thoughts, or suggestions to this course, either on the content or structure of the course. Midterm paper should NOT exceed 8 pages long (12 point front, single space).
4.
Final Report

There are two parts in the final report. Students need to select a topic and conduct a one-page leaflet. The leaflet should contain information on non-pharmacological treatment for patient education. For example, students may create a sheet on diet and exercise (e.g., increase the intake of dietary fiber) to relieve constipation. Students are free to select a topic that interest themselves the most. Students will then use the leaflet to do a 5-minute presentation as if they are doing for patient education. The final presentation will account for 10% of the total grade. The second part of the final report is a term paper. Students should describe the topic and explain the information that the selected into the leaflet. Students should describe who the target audience are (e.g., the elderly, working adults, women or children), what the key messages they want to deliver, why they select those specific pieces of information into the leaflet, and how they organize and present the information. References and citations should be provided if necessary, and the paper should not exceed 10 pages long (12 point front, single space). The final report will account for 20% of the total grade.
